Well done to all who participated in recent CLRG Grade examinations in Crossmaglen.
Our examiner was very complementary of our dancers and we are very proud of each and every dancer who went home with their certificates (100%!)
Grade exams are akin to classical dance exams whereby dancers are awarded grades as opposed to prizes. There is no ‘first’ place. Dancers are assessed on all aspects of their dancing, both solo and céilí. They are graded on their timing, rhythm, technique, execution of material, interpretation of music and overall dancing prowess.
An Coimisiún le Rincí Gaelacha offer a 12 grade system after which dancers may be eligible (on reaching age 21) to sit their TCRG or “Teacher’s” exam.
Grade exams offer a wonderful alternative to those who are not interested in competition but wish to have some recognition/reward for their time spent at dancing class. The exams also encourage a wider understanding of the Irish Dance curriculum as a whole and provide a very rounded Irish Dance education.
